Weakness, Not Our Identity

475D63B9-06DE-4658-ABF3-1ABB5B23B395“Having weak moments does not make you a weak person. Technically, moments of weakness make you stronger because you are allowing yourself to feel! Do not become numb to the world around you, you have every right to feel the way that you are feeling. I feel like we have been led to believe that we have to have it together all the time and be strong ALL the time, but that’s not reality. Reality is that we are human and we live in an imperfect world meaning we are going to struggle just like every other human-being does at some point in life.

However, what is not okay is if we allow ourselves to remain weak after recognizing the problem that we are facing. Isaiah 41:10 says “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will STRENGTHEN you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God says it right there. He will strengthen and equip you to fight whatever battle it is that you’re facing. Do not remain weak. Recognize the problem, conquer it with the strength that God is offering you, and keep moving forward.

Find your strength and continue on the path to becoming all that God has created you to be because you are something great! You were not meant to live an adequate life, to go through the motions, or to remain in your weakness. You were made to do the extraordinary because of who you belong to. You are a child of God who is deemed worthy and acceptable. Show the enemy who you truly are and that, yes, times of weakness may come but that does not define you and that is not a characteristic about you. You are made strong in the arms of the Father and He will sustain you enough to be able to walk through this life with purpose and meaning, the way He intended it.

I know what you might be thinking after reading all of this, “that all sounds great, but easier said than done.” Or “that might be easy for you to say but you haven’t been through what I have been through or experienced my pain.” If that thought crossed your mind, you’re right, I haven’t. But that does not mean I have not struggled or have had to face battles myself. I have multiple times throughout my life and am actually facing one right now. Over the past couple of months I have had to convince myself so many times to keep moving and not to allow my past experiences to define whom I am. The one thing that has kept me moving forward in all of this is the knowledge of knowing that God knows our hearts, He knows exactly what we need when we need it, He knows our situations better than we do, and He is the one who holds our future. My faith is what keeps me moving forward.

What matters is not the pain that you are facing, what matters is how you choose to handle that pain because it is in our weakest moments that God can use us the most. When we choose Him despite our pain and suffering He comes in for the rescue and saves us from self destruction. Your life does not have to be miserable. You do not have to endure the pain of the problem that you are facing any more than you already have. For yourself, make the decision that enough is enough. No more weakness, no more pain, no more suffering. Just like the scripture I quoted above says, God will strengthen you. Call on Him. Trust in Him. Keep moving forward in your walk with Him and do not look back.”
